Three Days, Three Quotes Challenge – Day Two

So its Day 2 of the 3 days, 3 quotes challenge. If you missed Day 1, you can read it here: Day 1

For the 2nd day, the quote is:

“I’m not afraid of my truth anymore, and I will not omit pieces of myself to make you more comfortable.” -Alex Elle

This quote really speaks to me. It entered my life at the perfect time. The summer before my sophomore year of college, I read “Love in my Language” by Alex Elle. The poems I read in her book was exactly what I needed to hear as I was entering another phase of healing and self-discovery. So many of her poems mirrored different aspects of my life. This quote above was symbolic to me at the time because I used to downplay myself, abilities, and ideas to make other people, who were usually insecure, feel comfortable. During that summer, I started to stop downplaying myself and expressed myself however I wanted. I stopped caring if I was making people uncomfortable just by being me (unless I was unintentionally harming someone). This was not an overnight process, but I feel so much more authentic now. Every now and again, I remind myself of this quote and to live by it.

Here are the Rules:

1. Thank the person who nominated you.

2. Post a quote for three consecutive days (1 quote for each day).

3. Nominate three bloggers each day.
